lines on my face

I'm very much about lines. I love them: I love how they bend and move, how they can distort our perceptions of what we see, how they can just pop out and appear if the light's bright enough (and even then, the angle of the light totally changes how lines look), etc. etc.

Lines.

One of my photo profs got on my case last year for not being "original" often enough and being too derivative or something when trying to do surreal photography. I'm not even sure what that's all about; while everything is derivative in a way, there's nothing stopping you from making your own original thing.

Anyways, lines. I like them, I like them a lot. Here are some photos of liney things (and some rocks and stuff) I took on a walk today, because by Cosby's sweater I LIKE LINES and will not stop taking photos of them.

Is it wrong to take photos of things in an art gallery? I've heard it is, but obviously this matters not to me. It is also IMPOSSIBLE to be around interesting shapes and NOT try to touch them. Art is made to be touched sometimes (read: unless it's a painting).

Don't tell the curators ok?

i went on a walk today

I went on a small walk today, and I need to do that more often because there are things EVERYWHERE to take photos of. That and I want some guys in Afghanisand to have some photos, even if it's of random stuff.

Good thing cell phones take photos, because I almost never carry my Contax or Ricoh around. Plus, I'd need to make a date with a darkroom.

Anyway, here are some of the photos I nabbed.

christmas in the snow

The pleasantly cool, but not-really-wintery weather decided to turn wintery yesterday, dropping 8" of snow on us. It was great! A nighttime wander produced the following shots on my extra-classy Android phone.

 This little guy was one of my favorites. So tiny! The Christmas lights shining through the snow was beautiful.
